Reunited with old friends, Dragon's Watch and allies destroyed the Inquest gates and continued on through the ancient city until they reached a gate hub, guarded by an asuran wall. A security recording confirmed that both Taimi and Joko had been there, and Taimi had reluctantly help open the gate under threat of being turned into an Awakened herself. As soon as the gate opened, however, a large wave of Awakened assaulted the team; only the Commander and Braham continued to the central platform, where Taimi had been locked inside her golem, and Awakened Inquest informed the Commander that he had declared war on them and their allies. Scruffy 2.0 then started to attack on its own, as it removed all the air from the cockpit. The Commander and Braham manage to save Taimi and destroy all the gates in the room at the same time. However, the Inquest's unknown research and the threat of Joko loomed over them like a dark shadow.
With the asura gates at Fahranur activated, Palawa Joko began to send his armies to invade Central Tyria. The Fahranur lab's quick destruction should have ended the threat, however portals continued to open outside the largest six cities in the region, and Awakened flooded through. Defended by local forces, and assisted by the Commander and adventurers, the invasion forces were pushed back. Famous individuals were present defending their homes, including Sigfast and Skarti Knutsson, Exemplar Kerida, Captain Magnus the Bloody-Handed, the Gear warband, Ridhais, and Peacemaker Ninn.
A scientist in the mysterious Inquest facility known as Rata Primus appears to hold the key to stopping Palawa Joko's vengeful invasion of Tyria, but infiltrating the enemy's stronghold will prove challenging.
In his twisted mind, Vecna believes that he his helping the world by wiping out humans, as a \"predator, but for good.\" When Vecna asks for El to join him, it's because he also sees her as a predator, \"better\" than humans. He offers her his path as a sort of freedom, as they reshaped the world in their image. When she refuses and casts him away, she becomes not only his enemy, but his only real threat. That's why he didn't begin his mission in Hawkins until she was powerless and gone. And why there's going to be a truly epic showdown when she gets back.
We also see flashes of his actions throughout the seasons. The gate Eleven accidentally opened while projecting her consciousness pre-season 1 was how Vecna made it back to the surface. When she kept closing his gates, first in season 1's finale then season 2's, he sought a way to get her power for himself. When El was grabbed by the Mind Flayer in season 3, he somehow took part of her power and figured out how to open the gates through the trances.
Though the Hawkins crew's plan does work, Vecna still wins in the end. He jumps out of the window of the Creel house and disappears, à la Mike Myers. When Max dies for a minute, before Eleven pulls her consciousness back, his four gates are complete, and the portals extend throughout Hawkins, killing dozens and tearing down the boundaries between the Upside Down and the surface.
At Craster's Keep, Locke scouts the keep for the party of the Night's Watch sent to eliminate the traitors holed up there; in his reconnaissance, Locke finds the hut where Bran Stark, Jojen, Meera and Hodor are being held captive. Reporting back to Jon Snow and the others, Locke tells them that only eleven traitors are present and most of them are drunk and won't prove much of a threat. He also lies about the hut where Jon's brother Bran and his group are being imprisoned, claiming there are only hounds kept inside and that they should keep away from it to prevent the dogs alerting their enemy. Believing Locke, Jon agrees and tells the party they attack at nightfall.
The Night's Watch swiftly overcome their enemy and Jon confronts Karl in single combat. Karl's use of dirty tactics learned in his criminal past gives him the upper hand. Before he can finish Jon, one of Craster's wives, Sissy, stabs him from behind. When Karl rounds on her, Jon gets back to his feet and drives Longclaw through the back of Karl's skull, killing him.
In Camelot, Merlin tries to talk to Arthur as a friend but Arthur feels his duty towards Camelot is his to bear alone. A messenger later arrives in Camelot and informs them that Queen Annis' army is heading towards Camelot and is declaring war on Camelot. Morgana visits the Queen and allies herself with Annis, seeking to destroy Arthur for the wounds he had inflicted on her and Annis. Later, Agravaine is seen telling Arthur that he cannot be seen with Guinevere and deems their relationship inappropriate. Arthur sneaks out on the night before he is due to leave for battle to see her and tells her that their relationship must end. A heart-broken Gwen tells Arthur to listen to his heart in order to become the king he really wants to be.By morning, Camelot's army sets out for the battle. In their camp, the Knights of the Round table assure Arthur that they will stand by him and fight in his name. Arthur feels that he had made the wrong decision and has brought the war upon Camelot himself, and that he does not deserve their loyalty. He sneaks out in the night to see Queen Annis and ask her to call off the war, invoking the right of a single combat in which if he wins Queen Annis will withdraw her army, but if he loses half of Camelot will be given to Annis. Without his knowledge, Merlin had followed him to enemy camp and is discovered. Queen Annis orders him to be killed but Arthur asks for her to spare Merlin, calling Merlin a \"simple-minded fool\". Queen Annis spares Merlin and grants Arthur the favour, accepting Arthur's challenge of single combat, with their respective champions to be announced by noon.

As the Freys continue to massacre the Stark army camped outside the Twins, the Hound flees the scene with an unconscious Arya. Unfortunately, she wakes up at exactly the wrong moment and sees a decapitated Robb being paraded through the castle gates with the head of his direwolf sewn to his body in place of his own.
Katya and Victor are not alone and they have a problem they need to resolve. Katya admires Victor's industrious nature and Victor believes diplomacy is the key to solving their problems. They discuss Garrick and Katya calls him an asshole, saying he planted the gargoyle. She asks Victor about the Labyrinth and the two promise to be candid. Victor thinks it's a Lovecraftian nightmare and doesn't care for it, but people he cares about care for it, and it's also in his domain. Katya believes it's a danger to the city and is everyone's responsibility. She talks about Eva's attempts to destroy the Magic Castle and the deal they made with Abrams. Victor confirms that no one was hurt, but he cannot confirm that Baron Nelli will continue their arrangement. If she doesn't, then Victor could offer them a place in the Valley. Katya wants Victor to keep Eva and Jasper out of trouble, in order to prevent more \"earthquakes\". Victor will do his best and he is willing to work with Strauss to keep the truce. The war between the Anarchs & Camarilla almost risked the Masquerade and they need its protection against the real enemy - the Second Inquisition.
Additionally, Uryū admits that he does not understand why Ririn, Kurōdo, and Noba have to set up such convoluted games, which Ichigo concurs with. Meanwhile, within his office in the Tenth Division barracks within the Seireitei in Soul Society, Captain Tōshirō Hitsugaya is informed by his lieutenant, Rangiku Matsumoto, of 2nd Division Captain Suì-Fēng entering the Senkaimon alone and heading for an unknown destination right before the gates closed over it. After Rangiku affirms that Suì-Fēng's lieutenant, Marechiyo Ōmaeda, confirmed she did not take the Keigun with her, she inquires about what is going on as Hitsugaya sips from his drink.
With Ichigo perplexed by this, Orihime draws her friends' attention to the cloudy sky above, where a massively larger version of the skeletal gates descends into Karakura Town on the other side of the river. Ichigo asserts that nothing can be that large and that this must be an illusion, but the gates open and unleash a powerful suction that Ichigo and his friends are forced to brace themselves against. After cursing and pulling out his Substitute Shinigami Badge, Ichigo presses it to his chest, entering his Shinigami form, and tells a concerned Orihime that he will worry about his body later when she asks him about it before running off with his friends. 59ce067264
