Hello, I was promised that I would receive a letter outlining the reasons for my loan denial within 7–10 days. The rationale for the letter, which I got last evening, was that the credit agency had reported my death. Why, despite my being alive, am I listed as deceased on the credit bureau? To get my application accepted, how can I demonstrate my existence? When I attempted to call the bank, they informed me that they were unable to authorize anything as long as I had this item on my report. Do I need to retain legal counsel? Is there anyone in Alabama that has had a wonderful experience?

Remember that erroneous information reported by a credit agency is not necessarily the credit bureau's responsibility. They only collect the data, and occasionally it seems that the supplier is misreporting. Naturally, the Social Security Administration may also mistakenly report you as deceased in this instance in addition to the CRA's error. You should submit a disagreement letter to the bureau as your application won't be accepted until you make corrections to your report. Of course, you may employ a lawyer, but first, I recommend reading this article: https://consumerattorneys.com/article/experian-deceased.
